St Marys Church Bettws

Set in the Edw valley and part of the Swansea and Brecon Diocese, this simply set out church, with a small vestry and ornate porch is described as a very pretty Victorian church, thats sit’s proudly in its own church yard.

With an active congregation, Jones and Fraser were initially enlisted to carry out an internal survey on associated internal damp issues. Subsequently, it was discovered, that there was a large amount of water ingress from the around the ornate brick work of the large lancet windows. These had been previously cement slurry coated.

Jones and Fraser set about carefully removing the cemitious slurry coat and carried out a full restoration to the ornate brick lancet windows, including repointing in matching mortars and cleaning of the stained glass. Works re-instated the elevation to its former glory and prevented further water ingress.

Repointing works to the bell tower via high rope access was also carried out, along with repairs to the slate roof.

Jones and Fraser look forward to further works and a return to St Mary’s.
